Iowa Hawkeyes, a Season Wasted

It was not supposed to be like this, there was not supposed to be a season this bad so soon into the new Hawkeye era. Like it or not, this is the season that few people thought would happen this season. Almost every person thought that this was going to be a repeat of the glory that they had last season. The truth of the matter is that this is not the case and as a result the team will be sent to a BCS game that will not be the National Championship.

When people begin the process of pointing fingers, there will be a lot of these people that will be quick to call for Nick Ferent’s head on a platter, while this would be the acceptable form of punishment for many coaches, Ferentz has earned a little forgiveness based on the fact that he can not get his team to follow his guidance.

But just because the Hawkeyes has turned and Iowa is facing the potential of being in a Bowl game and not the National Championship is any reason why this holiday season the fan in your life will not be happy to have a little something under the tree. There is still plenty of reason why the fan in your life will still be ready to root their team onto victory.

But with all of the bad news, there is some good news; this good news is that this holiday season there will be no better time to fit the fan in your life with the latest merchandise featuring the Iowa logo. While this will not erase the memory of this season, it will at least help to comfort them.

Getting back to the failures that seem to be haunting the team, there is a lot of players as a well as fans that are saying that the area that is causing so much concern, is that of the quarterback situation. There is not a solid player in that position that is able to be the type of leader that the team on the whole needs to have and allow them the opportunity to see any type of victory.

The best thing that can be done is to sit back and take a look at the things that they did right and the things that they did wrong. This will lead the team to take an honest look at their season and make the needed adjustments that will allow them to get the wheels back on.

Despite what fans may think, this is not the end, this is merely the beginning of the rebuilding effort that will take place over the next season, there will be glory in the State of Iowa once again, as the team will win and take home yet another National Championship. So for all the depressed fans, I offer this bit of encouragement, there is always next year and things can’t get a whole lot worse for the team.
